Points to keep in mind when boarding a train

When I used to ride the train, the time on the electric board was way off (I took the picture above at 2pm, but the train on the board was at 8pm…). (I took the photo above at 2pm, but the train on the board was at 8pm…)

This is a common occurrence in Poland. If you find yourself in such a situation, don’t panic, just look around you and see what is going on.

How to get from Warsaw Airport to the city by cab

This is how to take a cab from Warsaw Chopin Airport to the city. I personally recommend using the app-dispatched cab described next!

the time required20 minutes to the central station
Approximate amount to Central Station40 zloty (approx. 1,200 yen)
Advantages
  • lacuna (anatomical cavity or depression)
  • Boarding gate is right next to the arrival gate
demerit
  • High fees
  • You can get ripped off.
  • Many cabs accept cash payments only.
  • If you get stuck in traffic, it takes a lot longer.
Recommended for
  • People who just want an easy way to get around.

Directions from the airport arrival gate to the cab stand

From the arrival gate, go straight to the exit, and when you go outside, you will see the taxi stand.
All you have to do is tell the maintenance staff at the boarding area where you want to go and get on the bus.

Metered. (Not negotiated.)

important point

To avoid getting ripped off, always take a cab from the cab stand. Never follow anyone in the airport who says, “Taxi? Do not follow anyone who calls out “Taxi?

Unfortunately, however, it is possible to get ripped off even if you take a cab from the cab stand. This is just luck…

Also, I have heard of people getting ripped off when they take a cab from a high-end hotel to the airport from the city. (Even though the hotel called a cab for you!)

To avoid getting ripped off, we recommend the app-dispatched cab described below!

How to get from Warsaw Airport to the city with the app-dispatched cab

Cars coming through the cab app

App-dispatched cabs from Warsaw Chopin Airport to the city are recommended!

the time required20 minutes to the central station
Approximate amount to Central Station20~30 zloty (about 600~900 yen)
Advantages
  • Cheaper than a regular cab
  • You know the approximate fare in advance, so you don’t have to worry about being ripped off too much.
  • No need to worry about language as everything can be completed on the app.
demerit
  • Internet environment required
Recommended for
  • People who want to take a cab at a reasonable price.
  • People with a lot of luggage

Recommended cab dispatch app is “FREE NOW”.

There are three main cab apps in Poland.

  • FREE NOW
  • Uber
  • bolt

The price and usage are almost the same for all of them.

My recommendation would be “FREE NOW”!

How to download and use \FREE NOW! /FREE NOW

A law has been in place in Poland since January 2020 to crack down on cab apps.

In the past, Uber and Bolt drivers did not need a cab license, but since the law was passed, a cab license is now mandatory.

As of March 2020, it is still a gray area, with increased enforcement of unlicensed drivers.

Especially at airports, it seems like they are checking you strictly. To avoid getting into trouble, you may want to avoid using Uber and Bolt at the airport until things settle down.

What to expect when calling an app cab at Warsaw Airport

It is not possible to call an App Taxi on the arrival floor.

After exiting the arrival gate, take the escalator up to the departure floor and call for an app cab.
