Chopin International Competition for Period Instruments Final Stage

I went to the second day of the two-day final stage.

Six out of the 30 finalists advanced to the final stage.

Final Stage Venue

The first thing that surprised me when I went there was
The glitz and glamour of the venue
The first thing that surprised me when I got there was

Entrance is bang on!

Dazzling chandeliers

A beautiful woman!

Beautiful women in dresses everywhere!

And then the venue goes boom!

Luxury!

(laughs).

Until the second stage, we were playing in the smaller hall of the same Philharmonic Hall, so it was small and compact.

The final stage, on the other hand, was held in a hall with a capacity of more than 1,000 people.
There is even a third floor.

The second stage was more business casual.
In the finals, there were a few people in formal attire.
The second stage was more business casual.

The venue was packed with people.

A number of beautiful women were sent from the company sponsoring the competition to hand out chocolates.

Chocolates handed out by a beautiful woman in a red dress.
The beautiful woman in the blue dress was handing out chocolates. This one tasted better.

Gorgeous atmosphere~♪
I’m glad I barely wore a dress (laughs).

An outstanding final performance

All three finalists who appeared on the second day were Polish.

In the final stage, they will perform with an orchestra.
It is an orchestra specializing in period instruments called the “18th Century Orchestra.”

With two 15-minute breaks in between, we were able to listen to three 40-minute performances by each of the three performers.

Well, I got goosebumps ^^.

I don’t know much about music, so I can’t give an impression other than “It was great! I am sad that I can’t give any impression other than “It was great!

It was the first time I saw a piano concerto (piano and orchestra performance) live.

There would come a few times when the piano wasn’t playing and only the orchestra was playing.
The three ways to wait at that time are three different ways.

Some are in high spirits, some are quietly waiting, and some are swaying as if possessed by something.

It’s interesting to see the individuality ^^.

Results of the First International Chopin Competition for Period Instruments

result
1st Tomasz Ritter (Poland)
2nd Shigehiko Kawaguchi (Japan), Aleksandra Świgut (Poland)
3rd Krzysztof Książek (Poland)

All three Poles who appeared on the second day of the finals won prizes!
And
A Japanese, Mr. Kawaguchi, took second place! Wonderful ^^.

As a matter of fact, it was Mr. Kawaguchi who was in the second round that I went to see.

I was lucky enough to see all the prize winners perform live.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen “Nodame Cantabile”.

Polish small talk (5)
During the performance, the woman sitting in front of me was desperately trying to hold back a cough, which made me feel remarkably close to her.

She licked candy, swallowed spit, drank water, and tried her best not to cough.

I know that feeling so well!

These venues are so dry that I often get a sudden violent cough that won’t stop.
But it stands out because of the scene around…

I guess such problems are universal.
