If you visit Warsaw in the summer, there is one event you should definitely try.
It’s the Chopin Concerts held every Sunday in Wajenki Park!
The 2019 Chopin concert season began yesterday, May 19, and I went right away.
It was great to listen to it while lying on the grass under the blue sky.
In this article.
You will find out about the concert, the 2019 schedule, whether it will be held on a rainy day, what you need to know before you go, and how to get to Wajenki Park.
I really recommend it, so if your schedule allows, please visit ^^.
Chopin Concert 2019 at Wajenki Park

Yesterday, 5/19, marked the beginning of our 2019 concert season!
During this period, concerts will be held twice a day on Sundays at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
I went to see the concert at 4pm.
Arrived at Wajenki Park 15 minutes before the start!
It is already a great crowd.
Just a few hours before the concert was to begin, it rained heavily, so I was afraid there wouldn’t be many people there, but there weren’t!
A Chopin concert indeed.
The benches are already full.
The deck chairs, which appeared this year, seem to be available for anyone to use, but there are already no vacancies here either.
But I brought my leisure sheet for just such an occasion, so no problem!
In fact, it is most pleasant to listen to the performance while lying down on a leisure sheet on the lawn.
Performing in this session was a veteran Spanish pianist.
Lying on the grass listening to the music, I was so comfortable that I fell asleep.
It feels so elegant to doze off while listening to live classical music.
The performance ended while I was half asleep (laughs).
Everyone has their own way of enjoying music… ^^;
There was a performance of last year’s Chopin concert on Youtube.
It might convey a little bit of the atmosphere.
The actual atmosphere is 5 times better than this video. It is especially great on a sunny day.
The performance itself, coupled with the ambiance of Wajenki Park, was a delight.
It was a very elegant and relaxing concert.

When visiting Warsaw on vacation from Japan, many people may schedule their itinerary to coincide with the Chopin concert at Wajenki Park.
Many people find it difficult to stay for a long period of time and are willing to take a one-day-only chance.
When it does, the biggest worry is…

However
Cancelled in case of storms, thunderstorms or other inclement weather.

Things to know before going to a Chopin concert

Bring your leisure sheets!
Benches and deck chairs are very popular and the earlier the better.
In case you cannot sit down, it is convenient to have a leisure sheet so you can sit anywhere.
If you have room in your travel luggage, you’ll want to bring one large enough to lie down in!
There’s nothing like lying on the grass and listening to Chopin.
I’ve always been a lawn person ^^.
Venues anywhere in 360 degrees
There is no specific spectator seating area.
Anywhere where the performance can be heard is acceptable.
However, I would say that the area near the lawn in front of the Chopin statue has the best atmosphere.
If you want to get a good look at the pianist’s movements, you may like to go behind the Chopin statue.
On sunny days, it is easier to choose a shady spot.
Don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!
Very few restrooms in Wajenki Park!
There are very few restrooms in Wajenki Park.
As far as I know, there are only two decent public restrooms.
The closest restroom to the Chopin statue is here.
It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the Chopin statue area.
Surprisingly clean for a public restroom. Free of charge.
There are also several simple toilets in the park that look like those found at construction sites with “TOITOI” written on them.
But I don’t recommend it except in case of emergency…
summary
If you are in Warsaw on any Sunday between 5/19 and 9/29, you should definitely go to a Chopin concert!
You will surely feel extremely relaxed.

I will answer to the best of my knowledge!
