Every day! Chopin Concerts for Tourists

Venue for Time for Chopin

Small Chopin concerts are held in Warsaw
Every day
are held in Warsaw.

There are several venues, but they are all small and close to the performers.
It is said that Chopin preferred to perform in an intimate setting like a salon rather than a large venue, and I heard that he was conscious of this.

I have been there once before.
I went there without much expectation that it was touristy and therefore bemusing, but it wasn’t at all!
Seeing a professional pianist perform up close was a powerful and satisfying experience.

The performance program includes many well-known pieces, so you don’t have to be a classical music expert to enjoy it ^^.

Here are a few venues to choose from, so go where suits your taste and convenience!

Some online reviewers said it was not a good day for a student pianist.
You may want to look at the pianist details and programs for each venue to determine the venue.

Time for Chopin

A secluded venue in the middle of Warsaw’s Old Town.
This venue is also an art gallery, and the building’s ambiance was so impressive!

The performers are professional pianists and music students, but you may expect more consistent performances since the percentage of professionals is higher than other venues.
For details on performers and programs, and to make reservations, please visit the official website.

Chopin Point

Chopin Point won first place in the Warsaw Concerts category on TripAdvisor.
The beauty of this place is that you can hear a concert at the place where Chopin actually played when he was 13 years old.

Young pianists and music college students perform.

The use of Steinway pianos, one of the world’s three major piano makers, is a unique feature here.

Pianists change daily and range from professionals to music college students.
The music students are here and there the same people who play at Chopin Point.

Concert at Chopin’s birthplace

Chopin’s birthplace is located in Żelazowa Wola, about an hour’s drive from Warsaw.
Concerts are held there every year from May to September.

In fact, concerts at Chopin’s birthplace are quite famous in Warsaw, along with those at Wajenki Park.
The reason.
Because there will be a fairly famous pianist.

This year’s concert will feature the winners and prize winners of last year’s International Chopin Competition for Period Instruments.

You can view the 2019 concert schedule here.

I haven’t been there yet.
According to a friend who has been there
The venue was small and filled with people, so it was difficult to see what they were performing.

Chopin’s birthplace is also famous for its beautiful garden, so it might be a good idea to listen to the music while sightseeing.

  • Date and time: May-September, every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Admission to Chopin’s birthplace (museum): 23 zloty
  • Location: Chopin’s birthplace

At Chopin’s birthplace, concerts are held by music students.

Chopin’s anniversary of death memorial concert at the Church of the Holy Cross

The Church of the Holy Cross, where Chopin’s heart is famously enshrined, holds a concert once a year on the anniversary of his death.

The piece to be performed that day is not a Chopin piece, but Mozart’s “Requiem”.
Mozart’s Requiem was played at Chopin’s funeral.
It is said that the music was selected at the request of Chopin himself.

  • Date: 10/17 from 8:00 p.m.
  • Fee: Free of charge
  • Location: Holy Cross Church

はりぃ
I was not very familiar with classical music and when I heard Mozart’s “Requiem” it didn’t ring a bell, so I immediately searched for it on Youtube.

No way, it was the song from the Lotto 7 commercial (laughs).
It’s the one with Tsumabuki and Gibba that was on the air not too long ago.

This is the first time I have heard it properly outside of commercials.
If I hear this in church, I’ll get goosebumps from the emotion.

Pan Chopin

Free concerts are held on the last Monday of every month (except July and August).

The program and instruments change each month, and the program features music by Chopin as well as other composers.
(Sometimes there are no Chopin pieces on the program.)

It will be held in the Mirror Room of the Stasits Palace, right in front of the Copernicus statue.
Program details will be announced from the official website about 10 days before the event.
