This is my first Christmas in Warsaw, having arrived in the spring of this year.
Very excited ^^.
So. In this issue, we will summarize the latest information on the 2018 Christmas markets in Poland.
Three popular cities for sightseeing ( Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw) are presented in this article.
This will give you the dates, locations, and what happened last year at the Christmas Market.
Wroclaw’s 2018 Christmas Market Dates & Location
First of all, we would like to introduce you to the Christmas Market in Wroclaw Wroclaw Christmas Market.
To Japanese living in Warsaw
I asked. The majority of people answered Wroclaw. Or rather, almost everyone.
It is said to be as luxurious as the real thing due to its proximity to Germany, the home of Christmas markets.
Here’s a look at such a Christmas market in Wroclaw.

You can even take a picture with this cute little guy. I’m sure I’ll have nightmares about them in my dreams at night.
It is said to be a town where one can enjoy just walking around looking for the statues of dwarfs that can be found throughout the town.
It takes about one hour by plane from Warsaw, the capital city, and there are several flights a day, so it is possible to make a day trip.
Depending on the time of year, you can get there and back for less than 10,000 yen!
I’d like to go soon too.
Dates & Location of Krakow’s 2018 Christmas Market
Next, I would like to introduce a Christmas market in Krakow, which is also called ” Kyoto, Poland. Christmas Market in the Ancient City of Krakow Kyoto, Poland.
Historical buildings, beautiful churches, horse-drawn carriages, etc… The Central Market Square is even more picturesque.
A Christmas market will appear in such a beautiful square.
About 80 stores will be open, where visitors can buy Christmas goods as well as popular Polish tableware.

In Krakow, visitors can visit World Heritage Sites such as the Auschwitz concentration camp and the Wieliczka Salt Pit.
(Technically, it’s in a nearby town that’s a day trip from Krakow.)
From Warsaw to Krakow is
High-speed train (EIP) takes about 2.5 hours
Warsaw to Krakow is about 2.5 hours
It is just the same as traveling between Tokyo and Osaka with the Shinkansen.

That said, it’s only in the last few years that Warsaw’s Christmas markets have really come into their own, and they’re getting more powerful every year!

Warsaw also has Christmas Illuminations 2018
The Christmas Market Markets in Warsaw may be dreary, but they’re not.
The lights look beautiful!
The entire city of Warsaw, as well as the Old Town, will be lit up.
I notice that near our home, too, preparations are already steadily underway for the illuminations!

December 8, 2018. Lighting begins.
The end date has not yet been announced. Last year the event ran until February 2.
Location
All over Warsaw.
The big tree will appear in the square in front of the Royal Palace in the Old Town.
In the video above is the Old Town and the road (Krakowskie Przedmieście) leading from the Old Town to New World Street.
This area is probably the most luxurious since it is the most visited by tourists.
サンタクロースがプレゼントを持ってくる日といえば、12月24日、クリスマスイブですよね。
ところが、ポーランドでは12月6日にもサンタさんが子どもたちのもとへやってきます。
その理由は、ポーランドにはネームデーという文化があるからです。
キリスト教圏では365日それぞれに聖人の名前をわりあてて祝います。
それがネームデーです。
サンタさんの本名、というかモデルとなった聖人は聖ニコラウス。（ポーランド語ではミコワイMikołaj）。
彼のネームデーは12月6日です。
ネームデーの文化が根付いているポーランドでは、サンタがやってくるのはもともと12月6日のみでした。
その後西欧文化の影響をうけ、12月24日にも訪れるようになったそうです。
1回に集約せずに2回にしたところがなんともポーランドらしい^^
子どもたちは、12月中ワクワクしっぱなしだろうなー。うらやましい！
ちなみに、12月6日はプチプレゼント、24日は本格的なプレゼントになるそうですよ。
