The other day, I was talking to a Filipino tutor at RareJob English and his “Filipino accent” really bothered me!
I didn’t mind at all when I took lessons from a Filipino instructor before I moved to Japan….
When I came to Europe, my impression changed drastically as I was exposed to more and more English spoken by Europeans.
European English and Filipino English, totally different!
Perhaps it is because we share the same linguistic roots, but the pronunciation of European people is very close to that of native speakers. (Of course, each country has its own “accents” and peculiarities.)

I watch it on Hulu. The Japanese version of Hulu is convenient because you can watch it with Japanese subtitles.

Affordable pricing plans
Recently, “daily lesson plans” and “unlimited lesson plans” have become the mainstream for online English conversation services.
But honestly, I have a hard time taking lessons every day! I don’t have that much motivation… (laughs)
I’d like to take lessons at a reasonable price, just a few times a month.
At Aegox, you can choose a lesson plan from about 2 times a month!
The system is based on purchasing a fixed amount of points each month to take lessons. The number of points required varies depending on the tutor, but most native tutors offer lessons for 100 points.
(Sometimes people get 50 points for a campaign, sometimes 150 points for a super instructor.)
I chose the plan to purchase 200 points each month.
In other words This plan allows you to take about 2 lessons per month with a native instructor.
Of course, you can purchase additional points, and there are daily plans available.
The frequency of twice a month is just right, not too much and not too little (laughs), and the price is reasonable.

Hard for English beginners! The not-so-good thing about AEGOX
There are two things that I felt were not good about AGOX.

AEGOX’s follow-up for English conversation beginners is less than that of other companies.
If you are thinking, “I don’t understand English at all, so I want you to take me by the hand and teach me!” This may be a bit of a hurdle for those who want to learn English.
However, you can get support in Japanese if you contact us through the Contact Us page, and there are also instructors who can speak Japanese, so I don’t think you need to worry too much.
Skype installation required
AEGOX lessons use Skype.
Skype installation and initial setup are required in advance.
It takes very little time to install and open a free account, but it is a bit of a hassle.
They plan to move to a dedicated video call system for Aegox in the future.
The transition was scheduled for July 2021, but has been postponed due to a system glitch. A new migration schedule has not been determined at this time.

First, enter your phone number and click on “Show Automatic Reception Number.
Call the number displayed.
Authentication is complete when an automatic response is played and the call is automatically disconnected.
Since I was calling from overseas, I hung up once by myself before the call was automatically disconnected because I was concerned about the call charges, but that did not complete the authentication.
Always wait until it auto disconnects!
The call lasted about 6 seconds, so I don’t think we need to worry too much about call charges.
⑧When the reservation for the trial lesson is completed, the lesson currently reserved will be displayed on My Page.

Before the lesson time, you will receive a Skype invitation from the instructor. Accept it and wait for the lesson to start.

but I wanted to practice my English in the hospital, so I took the lesson using my book ↓ that I had with me (laughs).
We took pictures of the pages we wanted to practice and sent them to the teacher via Skype, which he used to practice pronunciation and role-play.
After the lesson, the teacher will send you comments about the lesson and your level.
